Born and raised a city girl until the world almost came to an end when her parents dropped a move to the suburbs in her early teen years. In return for moving to the oh so far country with greenery and quiet this decorator to be requested a new bedroom set to seal the deal.
What did the always stylish Camila pick? Custom made, two-tone high-gloss formica of course! What? It was the early 90's and it was cool.
Always one to know that the place you call your home is a huge reflection of who you are Camila knew how important it was for her new room to feel like her.
While her design choices have evolved, the formica is nothing more than a distant memory. Truth be told it can still be found in it's glory in her parents home. Her design philosophy has remained the same.
Throughout her college years the decorating continued with adventures in animal prints, zen, and tropical retreat looks, oh my. While decor had always been her true love it always seemed like a pie in the sky dream. College graduation led to a career in retail buying for a home goods store and then a stint in art direction and styling for another home goods store. While she was leaning in the direction of a more creative career path she wasn't there yet.
Tired of her woe is me attitude and after an enlighting episode of Grey's Anatomy. Camila and her sister made a pact to become DO-ERs like Lizzie and George. No more crying about the lives they wanted and with that Effortless Style Interiors was born.
With a love for amazing, but accessible design Camila is a huge believer in letting everyone know that they too can have a beautiful home regardless of the budget. She loves the mix of high and low end pieces. It's not strange to see one of her rooms with an inexpensive thrift chair with her favorite KWID trellis fabric in a toss pillow on top of it. Good design shouldn't be a luxury. We should all be able to enjoy a space that reflexes our true self in an effortless style.
